Miss Universe 2011 Results/Winners

Three more days to go before the grand coronation night of Miss Universe 2011 pageant. Eighty-nine lovely women around the globe will compete for the Miss Universe crown which is currently owned by Miss Mexico Ximena Navarrete (See – Miss Universe 2011 contestants)
From 89 candidates, the judges will narrow it down to 15. Who among these ladies will join the top 15? Who will stay on top 10 and top 5? Who will be the 4th runner up, 3rd runner-up, 2nd runner up, first runner up and this year’s Miss Universe grand winner (Watch the coverage here – Miss Universe 2011 Live Stream)?

We are also waiting for the winners of special awards like who will take home the “Best in National Costume,” “Miss Congeniality,” and “Miss Photogenic” awards.

National Broadcasting Company (NBC) and Miss Universe Organization owner, Donald J. Trump and President [...]]]> The 2010 Miss Universe pageant is the 59th edition which will be held on August 23, 2010. It will feature 80+ beautiful candidates from around the world who will compete in three categories: evening gown, swimsuit, and Q&A portion.

National Broadcasting Company (NBC) and Miss Universe Organization owner, Donald J. Trump and President of the Miss Universe Organization, Paula M. Shugart, announced that Miss Universe 2010 will be held at at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

Jim Murren, Chairman and CEO of MGM MIRAGE, said that the MGM Mirage family are thrilled that Mandalay Bay and Las Vegas have been selected to host this year’s Miss Universe pageant. They assured that it will be another succesful event.

The guest presenters for the 2010 Miss Universe pageant are not yet released and there are no further details who will be the judges of the said competition.

Miss Australia 2004 and Miss Universe 2004, Jennifer Hawkins, finally revealed her plans of getting married and having a children of her own.

Although she was busy expanding her business and properties, the 26 year-old beauty queen is like any other girl who dreams of walking down the aisle and having a baby with her long-time boyfriend Jake Wall.

Hawkins told Herarld Sun that tying the knot is definitely something that she and Wall would like down the track but it still depends on situations and circumstances. And she don’t think it will happen in the next five years.

This is what she said in the interview:

“Well, maybe not in five years, but I mean in the near future – soon.”

Hawkins may not be internationally famous like Victoria’s Secret model Miranda Kerr but she said that she’s contented of what she have right now. She is far more interested in her five-year plan which is expanding her swimwear label (Cozi).

The 19-year old beauty queen was very happy upon receiving the crown from former Miss Romania Bianca Elena Constantin but the whole nation was shocked when she gave up her title to first runner-up Oana Paveluc.

Alexandra Catalina Filip was crowned as Miss Universe Romania 2010 in Bucharest, Romania, on Friday, July 9, 2010. The 19-year old beauty queen was very happy upon receiving the crown from former Miss Romania Bianca Elena Constantin but the whole nation was shocked when she gave up her title to first runner-up Oana Paveluc.

The newly crowned Miss Universe Romania 2010 said that she wanted to represent her country to the upcoming Miss Universe pageant which will be held in Las Vegas, USA, but she thinks that she would not be able to fulfill the obligations and responsibilities stated in the contract and in the Miss Universe competition policy and guidelines.

Filip is a professional dancer and a national champion (2008 – 2010). She will be joining the international dancing competition together with her partner Ramon Zedan in South Korea on August 28 which unfortunately conflicted with the Miss Universe beauty pageant. Though the competition will be held five days after the beauty pageant, she would definitely need rigid training to be able to prepare for the said dance competition.

Paveluc, the 18-year old from the city of Brasov, is the new Miss Universe Romania 2010. She is a student from Remus Radulet Technical Highschool in Brasov, Romania and has completed several acting courses. She couldn’t believe that she’ll be her country’s representative and what she can say is that she’s extremely happy. Paveluc will join other 80+ contestants for the Miss Universe 2010 competition.

The 19-year old from Gaborone received BWP30,000 [...]]]> Tirelo Ramasedi won Miss Universe Botswana 2010 title at the Gaborone International Convention Center (GICC) on Sunday morning, July 11, 2010. Ramasedi will be the country’s representative for the Miss Universe 2010 beauty pageant which will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA on August 23.

The 19-year old from Gaborone received BWP30,000 while first princess Refilwe Lesole received BWP15,000 and second princess Itseng Kgomotso won BWP10,000. Kgomotso is Miss Botswana 2008 who represented the country in Miss World 2008 in South Africa. She’s considered as the crowd’s favorite but the judges chose Ramasedi because of her impressive answer in the Q&A round.

When asked about the role of diamonds terms of the economic development of Botswana since independence, Ramasedi said that because of diamonds Botswana’s revenue have been provided with free health and educational services. She said that 33 percent of Botswana’s gross domestic product (GDP) is generated solely from diamonds, which proves that diamonds play a bigger role in the country’s economy.

According to one of the judges, Kago Mmopi, they were not only impress on Ramasedi’s answer in the final round but they have seen her potential during the pre-judging session. He said that they are not really judging the contestants according to their heights and slim figures but they were more focus on the contestant’s intellectual ability, posture, attitude, and the way they walk and carry their outfits.

Special awards were given to Sailor Mogotsinyane for “Miss Photogenic,” Thabang Malebye for “Miss Swimsuit,” Keamogetse Tema for “Miss Stylish,” Matilda for “Best Gown,” and Pearl Williams for “Miss Congeniality” category.

About 90% of beauty queens get nervous in the question and answer portion. Q&A portion is the most feared part of the beauty pageant and most often candidates get lost on this stage. Some stuttered and others don’t know what they are saying. Well, Miss Universe USA 2010 Rima Fakih learned to fear no question since competing for and becoming Miss USA. But she have to say that it’s not only on the beauty pageant stage but also in real life.

In a recent interview made by Associated Press, Fakih said that she’s not afraid to answer any question which includes her private life. She knew that everyone’s going to feed on her success and she’s prepared for that. Upon winning the Miss USA 2010 crown, she knew that she’ll be on spotlight and everyone will interrogate her life. And that what happens when her controversial pole dancing photos were brought to public.

Fakih did not deny that those are her pictures at a Detroit radio show promotional event in 2007. She wore tank top and skimpy shorts but she said that it is part of the morning show event which was meant to be about exercise and not eroticism.

Now that Fakih’s pole dancing photos controversies has ended, she moved forward on focusing on the upcoming Miss Universe 2010 pageant.

Miss British Virgin Islands 2009 winner Josefina Nunez will be the country’s representative in the upcoming Miss Universe pageant.

The 21 year-old Josefina is from the capital city of British Virgin Islands – Road Town. She stands 5’5″ and loves swimming. She’s currently studying Hotel Management at H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC).

As Miss BVI 2009 winner, she took home a brand new car, a cellular phone, a government scholarship, and a trip to Berlin, Germany with the BVI Tourist Board. Aside from the Miss BVI 2009 title, she also grabbed numerous special awards: “Best Talent,” “Best Cultural Wear,” “Best Evening Wear,” “Miss Poise,” and “Miss Popularity” awards.

Josefina participated in the Miss Caribbean World 2010 at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex in Road Town, Tortola where she won two special awards: Best Evening Wear and Best Costume.

British Virgin Islands has not participated in the Miss Universe pageant in 8 long years. Their last delegate to the pageant was Anastasia Tonge. The BVI pageant committee launched fund-raising efforts to financially support Josefina in the upcoming international pageant. The British Virgin Islands Tourist Board and the BVI Festivals and Fairs Committee encourages the people of BVI to support Josefina by voting her online at missuniverse.com website for the “Miss Photogenic” category.
