Rima Fakih – Miss Universe USA 2010

One of the early favorites to win the Miss Universe 2010 title is none other than the United States of America representative – Rima Fakih. It was such a long time since USA grabbed the Miss Universe title. Brook Antoinette Mahealani Lee or Brook Lee was the seventh USA delegate to win the Miss Universe title. She won in the year 1997. Now, it is expected that Rima will be able to get USA’s 8th Miss Universe title and will move two titles ahead of Venezuela.

The first Muslim Miss U.S.A, Rima, was born on October 2, 1985 at Srifa, South Governorate (al-Janoub) in Lebanon. Rima and her family moved to New York, U.S. when she was 8 years old. Her father’s business declined at the height of September 11 Al-Qaeda suicide attacks that is why they moved to large Arab-American community in Dearborn, Michigan.

Rima participated in various beauty pageants like Miss Wayne County and Miss Lebanon Emigrant competitions. On September 19, 2009, Rima won Miss Michigan USA and represent Michigan in the Miss USA 2010 competition held at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. She’s the second Michigan representative to win the Miss USA title. In the interview, Rima was asked whether she thought birth control should be paid for by health insurance. She said that it should as it is expensive.

“I believe that birth control is just like every other medication even though it’s a controlled substance.”

Several days after she was crowned as Miss USA 2010, Rima’s salacious pole-dancing pictures that were leaked by someone she had considered a friend became a major buzz. Despite speculations that the controversial Miss Michigan would be stripped of her title, the state pageant organizers said that she’ll keep her title.

Rima Fakih Learned To Fear No Question

About 90% of beauty queens get nervous in the question and answer portion. Q&A portion is the most feared part of the beauty pageant and most often candidates get lost on this stage. Some stuttered and others don’t know what they are saying. Well, Miss Universe USA 2010 Rima Fakih learned to fear no question since competing for and becoming Miss USA. But she have to say that it’s not only on the beauty pageant stage but also in real life.

In a recent interview made by Associated Press, Fakih said that she’s not afraid to answer any question which includes her private life. She knew that everyone’s going to feed on her success and she’s prepared for that. Upon winning the Miss USA 2010 crown, she knew that she’ll be on spotlight and everyone will interrogate her life. And that what happens when her controversial pole dancing photos were brought to public.

Fakih did not deny that those are her pictures at a Detroit radio show promotional event in 2007. She wore tank top and skimpy shorts but she said that it is part of the morning show event which was meant to be about exercise and not eroticism.

Now that Fakih’s pole dancing photos controversies has ended, she moved forward on focusing on the upcoming Miss Universe 2010 pageant.

Kristen Dalton – Miss USA Universe 2009

Kristen Dalton is 2009 Miss North Carolina USA who was crowned as Miss USA 2009 last April 19, 2009 held at the Theatre for the Performing Arts in Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. She is USA’s pride for the 2009 Miss Universe pageant.

Kristen was born on December 13, 1986 from Wilmington, North Carolina. She is of German and English ancestry. She graduated from Hoggard High School and has an Honors College Psychology and Spanish major at East Carolina University. She loves acting, dancing, public speaking, singing, and sports. Her mother and her sisters were born North Carolina beauty queens. Her mother, Jeannie Boger was 1982 Miss North Carolina. Her sister Julia Dalton is 2008 Miss North Carolina Teen USA and was Miss Teen USA 2008 2nd runner up. Her other sister, Kenzie Dalton, was first runner up Miss North Carolina Teen USA.
