Maiko Itai was crowned Miss Japan 2010 at Tokyo’s Shinagawa Prince Hotel on March 9, 2010. She was crowned by Miss Japan 2009 winner, Emiri Miyasaka.

The 26 year-old Maiko Itai was born on May 21, 1984 in Oita Prefecture located on Kyushu Island. She lives in the house of her parents which is said to be a Samurai house in Edo era with traditional Japanese style and was built more than 200 years ago. Before she was crowned as the most beautiful woman in Japan, she works as a former city hall employee in Oita for about 3-4 months.

Aside from Japanese language, Maiko speaks English and Portuguese. She studied Portuguese at Sophia University in Tokyo, a private university in Japan. She said that she never dreamed that she would enter a beauty contest. She said that she’s not that too interested in fashion. She thought she will become a veterinarian, because she love animals. She also said that she’s interested in foreign cultures, that’s why she studied Portuguese for about 5 years.

In an interview made by criticalbeauty.com, Maiko said that after she wins the Miss Universe 2010 title, she will visit Ground Zero in New York City.

Emiri will represent Japan in the 2009 Miss Universe pageant. Riyo Mori, Miss Universe 2007, came from Japan as well.

In Kanji her name is “Emiri” and her English name is “Emily.” She was born on June 16, 1984 in Tokyo, Japan. She stands 5’7.” She can speak English well for she attended school in California for about a year. Emiri placed 2nd runner up at Miss International Japan in 2008.

Aside from the Miss Japan 2009 title, Emiri also received a brand new Audi TT Coupe 2.0 TSFI Quattro. Look at this photo:

Emiri was really shocked and seems like she’ll fall on the stage when she was announced as Miss Japan 2009. She wore Gucci Spring Summer 2009 collection in the said pageant.
