Qory Sandioriva was crowned Puteri Indonesia 2009 by Miss Universe 2009 winner Stefania Fernandez on October 9, 2009. She represented the conservative Muslim province, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam, in a glittering ceremony held at the Teater Tanah Airku, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah in Jakarta.

She was born on August 17, 1991 in the capital city of Indonesia – Jakarta. Her father is Sundanese and her mother is Acehnese. She currently studies French Literature at Universitas Indonesia.

According to Jakartapost.com, Qory wanted to be a musician and president of Indonesia someday.

As part of the preparation for the Miss Universe 2010 pageant, Qory underwent English language training at ILP, which provides world-class English teaching methods in Indonesia. She said that she found it hard to speak foreign language but she tried her best to learn at least some words.

Qory caused a stir after not wearing jilbab, garment worn by some Muslim women, in the Puteri Indonesia pageant. According to sharia law, Acehnese women should wore the Islamic headscarf but Qory did not. There were some protests against her and they demanded that Governor Irwandi Yusuf, Governor of Indonesian province of Aceh, should dethroned her.

Tgk. Faisal Aly, the leader of the Himpunan Ulama Dayah Aceh (HUDA), was very disappointed. He said that Qory does not deserve to represent province of Aceh for she doesn’t embody the Islamic ideals and values of the said province.

According to indonesiamatters.com, Qory said that she did not normally wear jilbab but that doesn’t mean that she disrespect the values of Aceh. She said that the government of Aceh gave her s apecial permission not to wear the jilbab.

Zivanna Letisha Siregar is the Puteri Indonesia 2008 who will represent her country to the 2009 Miss Universe Pageant. 2008 Miss Universe Dayana Mendoza of Venezuela attended in the event and was the one who puts the crown in her head. After the coronation night, she was interviewed by the press people. She said in NDTV reporter that she was overwhelmed when Ms. Dayana Mendoza puts the crown on her head. It’s a dream come true for her.

Zivanna Letisha Siregar’s nickname is “Zizi”. Zizi is a 20 year old and stands 5’10″. She competed with 33 contestants and won the Grand Final of Pemilihan Puteri Indonesia (Miss Indonesia Pageant) 2008 last August 15, 2008, at the Plenary Hall, Jakarta Convention Center. Zizi said that she will prepare her mind and body and will work for her beauty, intelligence and behavior.

This Princess of Indonesia was born in Jakarta on February 16, 1989. Before she received the Putri Indonesia Title in 2008 she won the “Elite Model Look” in 2006. She was now one of the celebrities in Indonesia.

Zivanna Letisha Siregar Interview
