This will be the first appearance of French Polynesia in the Miss Universe pageant.

11 juries will be selected and they are personalities from world of culture, the world media, art world, representatives of the economic environment, and the President of the jury. This panel of judges is under the supervision of Mr. Jean-Pierre Elie.

11 candidates will compete for 2009 Miss Polynesie Francaise, 2009 Ambassador of Tourism and Ecology, and Ambassador of Culture. Below is the complete list of the candidates:
