The 25 year-old representative of Namibe Province, Jurema Ferraz, won the 2010 Miss Angola title held at the Talatona Convention Center in Luanda on December 10, 2009. Over 500 people attended the said pageant. Among the VIP’s present in the coronation night were Angola’s First Lady Ana Paula dos Santos and Angola Minister of Culture Rosa Cruz e Silva.

The Angola candidates opened the ceremony with a contemporary dance of the 50′s and 60′s. It also featured performance from Angolan singer Perola and Brazilian singer Fafa de Belem. The judges of the said event consist of Alice Berenguel, Carlos Almeida e Domingos Nguizane, Dionisio Simão, Gessica Simões, Jose Mario,Lisete Poti, Karina Silva, and Salu Goncalves.

Aside from the crown and sash, Jurema received 2010 car Audi A3 model, a trip to Brazil, a set of jewelries, a wardrobe, and an insurance card from ENSA, the largest insurance company in Angola.

Jurema will compete for the 2010 Miss Universe pageant which will be held in Mandalay Events Center in Las Vegas, USA on the 23rd of August. One of her major priorities/projects as Miss Angola is to intensify the efforts to fight against AIDS.

Other winners includes Edmara Domingos from Cunene Province who won the Best Traditional Costume award and Miss Zaire Ivanita Jones was crowned Miss Angola World 2010.

Nelsa Alves from Luanda, Angola is the crowned Miss Universe Angola 2009. Miss Angola 2009 was held at the Cine Atlantico last December 2008.

Nelsa Alves is 21 year-old student with a height of 5’9″.

Nelsa received her cash amounting US$ 3000 and a sash. She also received her brand new car plus jewelries. Aside from cash, car, and jewelries, she also received a modeling contract.

Nelsa stated that that she will help people of Angola fight against AIDS.
